Step-by-step
Open Dragon Sync Devices on Desktop
On Desktop, open Dragon Sync Devices. Confirm the Desktop is licensed and that the collection you want to use is active. Under Pair New Device, choose Generate Pairing Code.
- ✓A phone only needs to be paired with this Desktop installation once.
- ✓Pairing authorizes the device; it does not choose the Mobile collection.
- ✓Existing paired phones appear under Connected Mobile Devices.
Generate the pairing code
Desktop displays a QR code and an 8-character backup code. Keep this screen open while you move to the phone.
- ✓Scanning the QR code is the easiest method.
- ✓The backup code is available when scanning is not practical.
- ✓Pairing codes expire after a few minutes. Generate a new one if needed.
Open Bag Sync on Mobile and connect
On Mobile, open License → Bag Sync. Tap Scan Desktop QR Code, or enter the backup code and tap Connect Desktop.
- ✓The Mobile screen may still refer to the Desktop feature as Phone Sync. In the current Desktop app, that page is Dragon Sync Devices.
- ✓After pairing, the Desktop appears under Connected Desktops with a checkmark.
- ✓Do not repeatedly pair the same phone just to synchronize changes.
Select the Desktop collection for Mobile
Scroll to Desktop Collections and choose the collection you want this phone to use. The selected collection is highlighted and marked ACTIVE.
- ✓Pairing and collection selection are separate steps.
- ✓Desktop can publish multiple collections to the same paired phone.
- ✓Check the collection name before adding or changing bags on Mobile.
Review pending Mobile changes and Sync Now
Supported changes made on Mobile appear in Dragon Sync as queued operations. Review the active collection and pending count, then tap Sync Now when you are ready.
- ✓Pending means the Mobile change is waiting to travel through Dragon Web.
- ✓The queued operation shows what Mobile intends to change.
- ✓Dragon Sync does not make Mobile and Desktop communicate directly; Dragon Web is the transport layer.
Review the proposal on Desktop
On Desktop, open Dragon Sync Review. The incoming Mobile proposal shows the phone's requested change beside the current Desktop state. Choose the appropriate decision and apply it.
- ✓For a new catalog bag, Add to Desktop Collection creates the linked Desktop record.
- ✓Keep Desktop preserves the Desktop state.
- ✓Discard Phone Proposal dismisses the proposal; Decide Later leaves it for later review.
- ✓Desktop remains authoritative until you explicitly accept an incoming Mobile change.
You Do Not Pair Every Time
The normal routine after setup
Once the phone is paired and the correct collection is active, the normal workflow is much shorter: make supported collector changes on Mobile → open Dragon Sync → Sync Now → review incoming proposals on Desktop. Return to pairing only when authorizing another device or reconnecting a device that is no longer paired.
